Tonight’s the big Full Moon in Libra (chart below,) a bright exclamation mark on the arrival of the Spring season. A spark-plug of a lunation, this moon highlights themes around empowerment in the face of trauma, self-improvement, the mastery of unhealthy anger, and at the heart of it all, the ability to enjoy life in the face of adversities.
I wrote extensively on the Full Moon a couple of weeks ago in my Aries Season piece. I’ll copy in some of that below and add some additional thoughts:
“…the Sun will make his way to a conjunction with Jupiter and Chiron, bringing a focus and resolve to efforts at self-betterment, of faith, of healthy competition.” This aspect has been tightening over the course of the last week or so. “There’s a carefree freedom in this that seems appropriate to the season of renewal.“
“The Full Moon in Libra occurs on 4/5, with the Sun sandwiched right between Chiron and Jupiter. The Sun being with Jupiter uplifts, enriches and rolls out red carpets, an avenue for the grandiose. But Chiron’s effect on the Sun usually means a discomfort with self, and this combination of planetary influences is likely to create some mixture of ups and downs. There is potential for rousing success and crippling humiliation in the same breath, and it seems like the healthiest thing to do will be to treat any setbacks here as investments. ‘Eat bitter’ is a phrase often uttered in the world of Kung Fu, the idea that losses and failures should be nourishing lessons. Given that Mars in Cancer rules this pile-up of planets in Aries, and has a reputation for being touchy, it may be difficult to remain emotionally composed and objective about such things, but Saturn’s trine to Mars may serve as a supporting wall with which to prop up one’s back up.” It is also worth noting that, traditionally, being too close to the Sun was said to severely weaken and obscure a planet’s influence. That doesn’t mean the influence is erased, but they may be less obvious. An obvious influence of the Jupiterian would be the appearance of a guru-like figure or Daddy Warbuckes dispensing gifts would Kris Kringle-esque abandon. This will not be that. Look for the gifts and opportunities to heal which are hidden in plain sight.
“The Moon in Libra makes no major aspects here, but may be colored by Venus’ current condition. Venus is…just becoming conjunct to Algol.” Algol is typically thought of as one of the darkest and malevolent stars in the sky, and in more recent years has become associated with retribution carried out in the name of victims who have been erased or debased in the public sphere. “That Venus on Algol rules this lunation is profound, and may add some heavy undertones to the Moon in Libra’s normally breezy nature. It feels like this combination of factors could lead some to an avoidant disposition on things that should not be avoided, that may not stay silent, and so it is best to try to dialogue with shadowy corners of self as though with a friend. If it’s a more tangible element that’s in question, an actual person or tough situation, it’s still probably best approached with a spirit of spitball problem-solving where possible.” The Moon represents appetites, emotional and otherwise. In social and playful Libra, the Moon is usually pretty happy-go-lucky. Venus’ position may create situations that demand focused attention. Keeping things as amiable as possible without ignoring the elephant in the room seems a recommended course of action.
“Both of the lights are enmeshed with factors that may make for potent and emotional lunation. One last feature of this full moon that should be mentioned is Mercury’s conjunction with the North Node, square to Pluto in Aquarius. As mentioned before, this seems like the type of thing that will begin to reveal what challenges and transformations Pluto in Aquarius is really bringing to our doorstep. Mercury in Taurus feels like commerce, especially when he’s with the North Node, a point of manifestation. So we have a conflict here, essentially, with those trying to navigate Capitalism and its commodities, and with whatever systemic and/or technological roadblocks Pluto is chucking in that lane. Conflicts around FinTech, banking reform, and crypto may be forthcoming here.” On a more personal level, some level of corruption or external control over a person’s life may become known during this time. It may also be that there is little or nothing to be done about it but adapt, redefine what one considers to be a practical frame of mind.
Thursday (4/6) sees the exact conjunction of Mercury and the North Node, and above themes may hit harder on this day. It’s also worth noting that this aspect could be very good for business, for administration, for making things happen – but it is much more likely to be one of those “grace under pressure” type of wins.
On Friday (4/7,) the moon shifts to Scorpio, where it will pass over the South Node, oppose Mercury on the North Node and square Pluto. This is a slightly volatile configuration that we know as a T-Square, and the result may be the prevalence of attitudes that are more confrontationally Leonic: attention-demanding, histrionic, possibly autocratic. May also draw out performative abilities and leadership qualities in some, your mileage may vary. The moon on South Node will also trine Saturn here, a possible signal to scale back and let go of some habits that may be hurting more than helping, though the solutions may seem undesirable. Lastly, this is also the day that the Venus-Algol conjunction becomes exact, and some of the above themes around that conjunction are likely to be emphasized here, on Venus’ day. If so moved, it may be good to hold space for this current in your own way, like watching horror movies or true crime fare.
As a matter of fact, for those of the Christian persuasion (or who are just fans of Jesus and what he is supposed to represent and not a lot of the bullshit dogma that his life has been co-opted to support,) this seems a very appropriate current for Good Friday.
No other major changes over Easter weekend (4/8 and 4/9,) which is just as well, there’s been quite a lot to absorb already this week. One notable feature is the tightening conjunction between Uranus and Juno, which will be triggered by an opposition to the Moon in Scorpio on Saturday. Juno is an asteroid dealing with marriage, or perhaps on a more general level, the things we commit to. There may be a sudden shake-up here, perhaps refuting or agreeing to a connection or contract unexpectedly. Sunday’s moon in Sagittarius brings with it a likely commitment to abundance and better natures, although it also casts a square to Saturn, which may test that good will with natural obstacles. Awkward family disagreements seem likely.
The conjunction between Juno and Uranus becomes exact on Monday, 4/10. Here, Venus will also be at the final degree of Taurus, possibly draining or limiting our ability to socialize and enjoy what we typically enjoy. The Moon in Sagittarius supports the Sun-Jupiter-Chiron conjunction, an encouraging force to any positive impulses brought up by the full moon.
Then on Tuesday (4/11,) the Sun-Jupiter conjunction is exact. Here, in the heart of the Sun, Jupiter’s benefic nature can make itself known loud and clear, center stage and in the spotlight. The wisdom, ideally, will make itself known, the avenues for betterment will, hopefully, alight with big, bright arrows. Additionally, Venus enters Gemini, conjunct the Pleiades, trine to Pluto:
“[Venus] is neither strong nor weak in Gemini, more a creature of Water and Earth than Air, but not opposed to the pleasures that Mercury’s house can bring. This is a Venus with a lot of different looks and styles, a myriad of interests, an avid conversationalist and tea-spiller, a lover of games and diversions. My friends with this placement do not seem to have a physical type, though their matches fit a cerebral profile, bordering on sapio-sexual. Upon entry to Gemini, she will immediately trine Pluto and may find herself on the beneficial side of the powers that be. This may be a good time for AI art, or for some other kind of technological aid to Venus’ realm. She also will be on top of the fixed star Alcyone that day, It is difficult to say what this augurs, but this star (as the principal star of the Seven Sisters, The Pleiades,) is oft associated with blindness and with the loss of innocence. If I were to hazard a wild guess, I’d wonder if some breakthrough with vision correction would be associated with this transit.”
We shall SEE! It is also worth noting that here, as Venus is in a Mercury-ruled sign and Mercury is in a Venus-ruled sign, “they are in a state known as mutual reception, where they will help and strengthen each other’s influence for the duration of their stays…” Should amplify efforts to network, socialize, write eloquently, and the like.
